Certified Medical Assistant
This program teaches both theory and practical information regarding medical diagnostics, laboratory techniques and back office operation, such as medical billing and record keeping. The student will learn basic anatomy and physiology, and receive training in medical techniques, including injections, urinalysis, venipuncture and electrocardiography. The student will also learn how to take blood pressure, temperature and heart rate, and perform EKG, First Aid, and CPR.

After graduation students will be prepared to take the National Medical Certification Exam.
Prerequisites: High School Diploma or Equivalent as determined by the NJ Department of Education. If the prospective student does not have a HS diploma or Equivalent, he/she will need to show evidence of at least an 11th grade reading level as determined by the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), a state recognized test as indicated by the National Skills Standard Board. The classes consist of 520 hours of training and an externship assignment.
