Phlebotomy Technician

The Phlebotomy Technician is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team. Their main function is to assist laboratory personnel by drawing blood. Students learn the proper technique for drawing blood, the proper way to collect blood, and understand the purpose of anticoagulants and serum blood collection. This program is a solid foundation for those who may be considering medical technology as a career. This certification course for Phlebotomists has greatly expanded over the past years and the role of the healthcare team has recently been brought into sharper focus.

Students interested in these fields should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.  The classes consist of 120 hours of training and an externship assignment.
